1% Chocolate Lactose Free Milk

With the start of the school year steadily approaching, students are heading back to the cafeteria ready for lunch time! Milk is a fundamental part of diets for growing bodies and minds and an important part of school meals. Packed with 13 rich, essential nutrients, milk is the number one food source for 3 of the 4 nutrients of concern: calcium, vitamin D, and potassium. The protein in milk also assists in muscle recovery and growth, giving children an extra boost and keeping them full long after recess.

During a school meal, students can gain all of those nutritional benefits from just one serving of milk. However, children may face difficulties when consuming dairy due to lactose intolerance; a common digestive issue where a person cannot properly digest lactose: a type of sugar found in milk and other dairy foods. It’s so common, in fact, that as many as 30% of households have at least 1 person with a lactose intolerance. In the lunch line, a child with that is unable to consume milk won’t get all of the nutritional benefits or receive as healthy of a meal as they would with conventional milk.

That means it also contains less sugar, as it’s naturally sweeter! Because of the sweeter taste, Turner’s 1% Lactose Free Chocolate Milk meets the new school regulations for added sugar while still tasting great.
